Puspa Kencana has stood in Martapura, City of Diamonds, since 1988 — grown from the simple belief that an honest scale will always be sought out by customers, however many gold shops crowd the neighborhood.
It Began with One Principle: Karats Are Never Rounded Up
In 1988, Hj. Ratna Puspita opened a small stall at Pasar Cahaya Bumi, Martapura, selling jewelry she forged herself. While other shops rounded up their karats to make prices look cheaper, she insisted on stating the true karat — even if it meant a slightly higher price.
That principle is what has kept customers loyal across generations. Today Puspa Kencana is run by Hj. Ratna's children and grandchildren, operating a two-story boutique with its own workshop upstairs.
Five Stages Every Piece Goes Through Before Reaching the Showcase
Design & Sketch
The customer's request is turned into a detailed sketch before the gold is touched.
Melt & Cast
Gold bars are melted at a precise temperature, then cast according to the design.
Shape & Engrave
Motif details, including the signature Banjar engraving, are carved by hand by senior craftsmen.
Polish & Finish
The surface is polished in stages to a maximum shine without damaging the engraving.
Weigh & Certify
The final weight and karat are recorded, stamped, and an SNI certificate is issued.
